6:00 am - 2:00pm,
2:00 pm - 10:00 pm

*6-month Minimum Contract Assignment with Option to Extend

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs moderate to complex patient service work. This includes routine and emergency care, treatment, and training for people with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting.

Performs health assessments campus-wide
Responds to medical emergencies on campus
Communicates health status/needs to other disciplines, families as needed
Provides personnel management to subordinate [sic] nursing staff
Delegates work assignments
Evaluates employees performance
Complies with all State/Federal/Local standards
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the nursing process and nursing procedures
Actively participates in meetings related to care of persons served in order to manage and coordinate health care to achieve optimal health
Demonstrates knowledge of medications administered in order to identify desired effects or adverse reactions
Demonstrates knowledge of safety and infection control practices to ensure a safe working environment
Provide treatment to in-house employees injured in course and scope of employment

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas (or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact)
Current CPR certification
Valid Photo ID

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Comprehensive knowledge of nursing procedures and practices and of the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Rules and Regulations of the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas
Ability to identify nursing interventions appropriate to the population served
Ability to manage and take a leadership role in managing emergencies
Ability to communicate effectively with other staff members to provide effective clinical supervision or to relay concerns about the patient to other team members
Ability to teach others the principles of psychiatric nursing and maintenance of the therapeutic milieu
Experience with direct patient care in a residential setting
