Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Health Center Operations and with the contributions of departmental clinical leadership, the Director nursing will guide Nursing through a period of exciting growth and beyond. He/She will explore opportunities for improvement in the quality of nursing care, productivity of nurses, efficiency of workflows, and utilization of staffing models. The Director will assess the professional needs of the nursing and medical assistant staff and plans and implements high quality programs based on those assessments. The Director conducts surveys of the nursing and medical assistant staff and incorporates the findings in the assessment and workflow development.
Recognized as the organization’s internal expert, consultant, facilitator, and lead researcher supporting nursing and medical assistants, the Director fosters empowerment based on knowledge to achieve excellence in the delivery of evidenced based nursing practice. In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, the Director is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate within NeighborHealth to meet the diverse needs of its clinical departments.
The Director works collaboratively with the nursing leaders and co-leadership team to ensure staff nurses and medical assistants have the knowledge and skills needed to support the organization's clinical redesign efforts

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am to 12 pm, 1pm to 5 pm
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Uses a variety of methods including results of quality measures and needs assessments to identify the clinical and training needs of employees.
Oversees and facilitates the Nursing Practice Council.
Audits maintain standards and scope of nursing practice; and provide direction and support to staff to ensure practice efficiency. Acts as a conduit for communication to nursing staff.
Directs the development and implementation overhigh high-quality, sustainable, educational
program for nurses and medical assistants that aligns with EBNHC’s strategic initiatives, National Patient Safety Goals, and Joint Commission standards.
Assists with Navigation Center development of nursing roles and competencies.
May participate in clinical care 10% of his/ her time.

- Reads, understands and complies with all Standards of Conduct, JCAHO policies, CMS Pace Program Regulations and Standards, applicable State regulations and guidelines, ESP policies and procedures and all laws related to position responsibilities and employment at NeighborHealth.
- Upholds procedures and systems to safeguard the confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
- Upholds safety policies, practices, and procedures including safety, fire safety, electrical safety, proper body mechanics and material handling, office/ergonomic safety and other employee safety measures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Education:
- BSN require MSN preferred
- Registered Nurse State of Massachusetts
- BLS
Experience:
- Previous leadership experience within a diverse community health center setting preferred.
- Must be able to act cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Requires strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must have demonstrated a commitment to the principals of collaboration, teamwork, and innovation.
Skills/Abilities:
- Basic Computer Skills in Microsoft Office, Excel.
- Knowledge of Audiovisual equipment sets up an advantage.
