SUMMARY: The Family Nurse Practitioner will function as a primary care provider seeing all ages of patients and all medical conditions. Referral of complex medical conditions to Physician providers will be expected.
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILTIES:
1. Must comply with all California State requirements including those applying to Title 22, and The Joint Commission.
2. Incumbents will be expected to maintain complete and appropriate medical records and documentation on all services that they deliver.
3. Will be proficient at EKG interpretation, IV line insertion, oxygen therapy, PALS, and ACLS.
4. Must comply with the K'ima:w Medical Center Medical Staff Bylaws.
5. The Family Nurse Practitioner will be expected to participate in all Medical Staff Meetings, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meetings, and Quality Assurance Committees as requested.
6. Participates in peer review activities as necessary.
7. Appropriately manages primary care pediatric, adult, and elder health care. And appropriately refers when necessary.
8. Coordinates other specialty services for patients as needed.

JOINT COMMISSION RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for helping to prepare, achieve, and maintain accreditation by The Joint Commission. By serving on the various performance improvement subcommittees individual employees are directly involved in the generation or modification of policies & procedures that enable KMC to provide continuously improving healthcare.
COOPERATION: Must be a self-starter; seeks solutions; accepts constructive criticism; willing to adjust to changes; loyal to K'ima:w Medical Center.

JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS & ABILITIES:
· Demonstrated ability to perform processes in the delivery of care to specific age groups.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must be a Masters Degree Family Nurse Practitioner.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
· Must have a current unrestricted Family Nurse Practitioner License from any of the 50 states. California license is preferred.
· Must have current ACLS Certification.
· Must have current PALS Certification.
· Must have a Furnishing Number within three months of hire for prescription processing.
CONFIDENTIALITY: Employee must be aware of and adhere to Ki'ma:w Medical Center's Confidentiality Policy and deal appropriately with patient confidentiality at all times.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employee is subject to base line and random drug testing per the Hoopa Tribal Drug & Alcohol Fit for Duty Policy. Employee will serve a 90-day introductory period. Employee is subject to introductory and annual performance evaluations. Preference will be given to qualified Indian applicants pursuant to the Tribe's TERO Ordinance.

ANNUAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: At a minimum Employee is required to be certified for 1) Health Stream courses and 2) CPR, PALS, ACLS every two years.
