Job Title: Contract Licensed Nurse (RN)
FLSA Status: Department: Client Services
Reports to: Director of Counseling Services

Pay Rate: $40-45 perhour
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and licensed Registered Nurse who will work with adult and child survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in addressing healthcare needs to aide in overcoming abuse. They will assist survivors through medical assessments and establish a referring and resourcing medical provider network to support with varying medical needs.
Responsibilities
- Screen patient and evaluate for immediate medical needs and barriers
- Assist families in navigating local resources to obtain immunizations
- Record patient information and medical history in accordance with all Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.
- Perform basic health-related screening, i.e. vital sign, height, weight and past medical history etc
- Operate basic standard medical equipment
- Educate clients on nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle recommendations based on medical history and current conditions
- Stay current with advances in healthcare options.
- Assist with local resources to refer clients whose medical needs exceed the capacity of the program
- Provide referrals to medical providers for low-cost or uninsured clients
- Ability to identify appropriate internal or external referrals for clients with multiple disorders and or illnesses.
- Leading a monthly group to cover a topic on children’s health and well-being
- Serve as the medical advocate for children in BATP’s residential and non-residential programs
- Provide prenatal and post-natal support and medical resources for clients
- Network with BATP program staff to address medical concerns for the children and build care plans that include focusing on eliminating medical barriers
Job-Specific Competencies:
- Ability to assess children and their family members for common illnesses and refer clients internally and externally for care when needed
- Ability to collaborate with resources who can provide immunizations
- Case Management in the form of screening, assessing and referring
- Group leadership
- Ability to work in a tight-knit team atmosphere
- Understanding of the factors of domestic and sexual violence and how this impacts children and families
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited university (BSN preferred)
- Minimum 3 years nursing experience
- TX Nursing License
- Adaptive, quick thinker who performs well under stress
- Strong time management and organized
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communicator
- Friendly and compassionate
