Position Summary:
Gastroenterology of the Rockies is a rapidly growing Gastroenterology practice in Boulder County and the greater Denver Metro area with eight office locations and five Ambulatory Surgery Centers. Interfaces with patients, peers, doctors, and other departments to ensure the highest levels of patient care are performed in a fast-paced Medical Office environment. Assists doctors in the treatment of patients, coordinates office operations, assigns tasks to and monitors performance of office staff, and maintains timely and accurate patient and business records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collects new and/or reviews previously collected patient health information. Identifies relevant and unique patient family needs.
- Works directly with providers to formulate a plan of care to address unique patient needs and achieve desired outcome(s) and utilize current standards of care. Coordinates the plan with the health care team and monitors plan progress. Differentiates normal from abnormal findings, including potential problems and communicates information effectively to the provider.
- Accurately tracks lab reports, imaging, pathology reports and other information for timely return. Communicates the results of tests, observations, or other pertinent information to patients on a timely basis. Able to appropriately prioritize urgent results.
- Provides education to the patient and family in a manner that is easily understood by the patient. Maintains GI specific knowledge regarding disease states, treatments, tests, and medications.
- Ensures that all tasks are addressed in a timely manner. Able to prioritize urgent tasks appropriately.
- Acts as the patient advocate to ensure the highest quality experience for the patient, delivering care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that preserves patient rights.
- Document all patient interactions in the appropriate system in a timely and accurate manner and verify that all documentation is complete, concise, and accurately reflects the complete situation and the care that was given.
- Participates in staff meetings. Assists in developing ways to meet department goals in a more effective and efficient manner and is an active part of the implementation of new processes and procedures.
- Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by the management team.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 1-2 years nursing experience (GI experience preferred)
- Intermediate knowledge of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (preferred)
- Valid LPN degree and/or licensed to practice in the State of Colorado
- Valid RN degree and/or licensed to practice in the State of Colorado
- Excellent verbal, written skills and oral communications skills.
- High level ability to function in a teamwork spirit with doctor’s, peers, and other staff.
- Able to function in a lead capacity as required.
- Intermediate computer skills, with knowledge of medical software (Intergy preferred)
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances.
- Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
