Plessen Healthcare is a highly dynamic organization comprised of a medical clinic, the only CMS accredited Ambulatory Surgical Center in the USVI, and an Urgent Care/Specialty Clinic. Our team of providers and nurses will be expected to work within each of the 3 business units, as needed. We are seeking VI licensed, experienced practitioners.
Job Duties:
- Provide nephrology clinic visits and dialysis rounds
- Recommends options and courses of action for patient care
- Implements physician directives
- Interpret and assess patient data to plan for patient treatment and management
- Provide guidance and instructions regarding medical care to patients
- Assesses patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examination (including obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories)
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic test, such as X-rays and laboratory studies and by interpreting test results
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections
- Provides community of care by developing and implementing patient-care plans
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; and enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Current Virgin Islands State license preferred
- Must be eligible to work in the United States (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)
- 1+ year of working experience as a nephrology nurse practitioner
- Knowledge of medical procedures and guidelines concerning assessment, treatment, and recovery
- Problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
- ACLS and BLS CPR card
- Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision
- Caring and compassionate
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Strong healthcare background
