We are seeking a part-time phone triage nurse to join our team. As a triage nurse, you will provide exceptional care by assessing patient needs over the phone, guiding them to appropriate care or self-care advice. Your compassion, expertise, and ability to document patient encounters will ensure high-quality care and continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial patient assessments to determine urgency and severity of medical needs
- Apply critical reasoning and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care and treatment
- Communicate with patients to gather medical history and symptoms
- Prioritize patient care based on assessment results
- Provide medical advice over the phone
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate appropriate patient care
- Use approved protocols and evidence based practice in providing patient education
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
- Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients
- Ability to seek out resources independently and work collaboratively
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, healthcare team and leadership
- Ability to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care
- Ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer
- Completion of accredited nursing program with an active Louisiana LPN or RN license
- Minimum of two years experience providing care in a clinical environment
- Previous experience providing phone triage preferred
- Previous experience with managed care concepts preferred
Schedule:
This position is part-time and is expected to average 16-24 hours per week. Schedule can be made to accomodate candidate's availability.
