Job Title: Cardiovascular Surgical ICU, Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift: 3x12s - 36hrs - Nights
Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) will provide specialized, high-acuity care to critically ill patients who have undergone complex cardiovascular surgeries. These procedures include open-heart surgeries, heart transplants, valve replacements, and other advanced cardiovascular interventions. The RN will be responsible for delivering patient-centered care in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment while utilizing advanced medical technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care to cardiovascular surgical patients, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, ECG readings, invasive monitoring systems, and hemodynamic parameters.
- Administer medications, blood products, and specialized treatments as prescribed.
- Manage ventilators, ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), and other advanced life support systems.
- Perform wound care, manage drains, and ensure proper post-operative recovery.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, cardiologists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to create and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide patient and family education on post-operative care and recovery.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and uphold the highest standards of clinical practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and assessments.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
- Current RN license in the state of North Carolina (or compact state).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required. CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an ICU setting.
- Previous experience in cardiovascular or surgical ICU preferred.
- Familiarity with ECMO, invasive monitoring, and other advanced critical care technologies is a plus.
