Job Description:
The Cosmetic Medical Assistant supports physicians, dermatologists, and other medical professionals in a dermatology clinic that specializes in cosmetic treatments and medical dermatology. This role focuses on ensuring patients receive high-quality care while assisting with both clinical and administrative tasks, particularly in cosmetic and minimally invasive dermatologic procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care and Support
- Conduct patient intake, recording medical history, skin concerns, and vital signs
- Prepare patients for both cosmetic and medical dermatology procedures.
- Educate patients on a range of cosmetic treatments, such as Botox, dermal fillers, laser resurfacing, and microneedling, as well as medical treatments like skin biopsies or acne management.
- Assisting with Cosmetic Procedures and Appointments
- Set up treatment rooms and prepare instruments for various cosmetic procedures.
- Assist the provider during cosmetic procedures by handing tools , monitoring patients, and ensuring the proper application of treatments.
- Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing reassurance and guidance before, during, and after treatments.
- Apply post-procedure care, including applying soothing treatments or dressings.
- Assisting with Medical Dermatologic Procedures and Appointments
- Assist provider during minor surgeries, biopsies, mole removals, and other procedures by handing instruments and ensuring patient comfort.
- Prepare and organize treatment rooms and equipment for various procedures (e.g., skin biopsies, cryotherapy, laser treatments).
- Scribing information into EHR
- Clinical Duties
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical instruments and treatment rooms.
- Administrative tasks such as patient inquiries via emails and phone calls
- Assisting with prescriptions and prior auths
- Other miscellaneous position related duties as assigned
Ideal candidates:
- Understanding of cosmetic and medical terminology
- Knowledge and articulation in discussing products + cosmetic procedures
- Professional demeanor and attitude
- Natural inclination to take initiative
- Medical assisting experience
- Electronic Health Records (EHR) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
- At least 1 year commitment
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Excellent English verbal and written skills
- Punctuality
Compensation based on experience: $19-$22/hr
