Responsible for the direction and leadership for the day to day nursing care; has administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for the functions, activities and training of the nursing service staff.
Recommends to the administrator and/or system administrator the number and levels of nursing personnel to be employed, participates in their recruitment and selection, and recommends termination of employment, when necessary.
Plans and conducts conferences and discussions with administrative, professional and Nonprofessional nursing staff to encourage participation in formulating departmental polices.
Promotes and maintains harmonious relationships among nursing personnel and with the residents and their families and the community.
Participates in screening of potential residents, working with social services in admissions of new residents.
Evaluates all nursing personnel at end of probationary period and annually.
Confers with medical director and Administrator on regular and timely basis. Is responsible for maintaining nursing service objectives in accordance with accepted standards of quality care. Monitors compliance of nursing personnel in following regulations.
Participates in the development and implementation of resident care policies assuring that a comprehensive care plan is established for each resident and their plan is reviewed and modified as necessary.
Minimum of three years prior experience in a practicing management role. Nursing home leadership experience strongly preferred.
