Job Summary
The Director of Nursing leads a team of dedicated RN’s, LPN’s and Medication Aides in a residential substance use disorder treatment setting.
Responsibilities Include:
- Participate in planning, priority setting, and the development/implementation of policies and procedures for health care activities that comply with facility and contractual requirements as well as State, DEA, and CARF standards.
- Coordinate and monitor orientation, in-service training, and continuing education with the nursing team.
- Coordinate the development, provision, and evaluation of patient care according to the standards of nursing practice in the state of Virginia.
- Conduct recruitment/retention efforts for nursing service.
- Prepare/submit reports as requested.
- On-going chart reviews to ensure compliance with Federal/State/regulatory requirements.
- Provide training, consultation and direction in dealing with difficult clients.
- Participation/leadership in treatment team meetings as well as grievance and appeals meeting.
- Participate in ongoing training per program/State/Federal requirements.
- Provide assistance in ongoing in-house training requirements.
- Manage the finances of the department, prepare and monitor budgets and spending to ensure department operates within allocated funds.
- Order supplies as needed for the department.
- Ensure adequate staffing and complete monthly staff schedule.
- Perform other functions related to the position as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS
- Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Virginia.
EXPERIENCE
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in an inpatient/residential substance use disorder treatment setting preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Supervisory skills required.
- Leadership skills in decision making and problem solving.
- Knowledge of CARF accreditation requirements.
- Knowledge of all aspects of holistic addiction treatment clinical care requirements.
- Ability to develop and implement holistic clinical program for patients with substance use disorder.
- Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others.
