The Director of Nursing is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position requires a deep understanding of nursing practices, regulatory compliance, and effective management strategies. The Director will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop care plans, uphold resident rights, and maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all patients in various settings, including home care and assisted living facilities.
Duties
- Lead and manage the nursing department, ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies and procedures to enhance patient care.
- Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Monitor patient outcomes and adjust care strategies as necessary to improve health results.
- Ensure that resident rights are upheld and that patients receive compassionate care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Stay current on best practices in nursing administration, acute care, home care, and assisted living.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to inform patient assessments and interventions.
- Proficient in medical terminology for effective communication within the healthcare team.
- Experience in nursing administration to manage staff effectively and ensure operational excellence.
- Familiarity with resident rights to advocate for patients’ needs and preferences.
- Background in acute care settings to address complex medical conditions competently.
- Ability to develop individualized care plans that reflect best practices in nursing.
- Excellent leadership skills to inspire a team of nurses towards achieving high standards of patient care.
Requirements
- Licensed in state of South Dakota or Compact
- 2 years of experience as a Director or Nursing
- Experience in LTC/SNF
- Clean Nursys report
Pay
- $60/hr - Regular
- $90/hr - Overtime
- $1246/wk - Stipends
