The Director of Nursing is responsible for assisting the facility in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards governing the facility to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is always maintained. The DON will lead and oversee the entire nursing department. Your central goal will be to develop a collaborative and efficient workplace with specific attention to quality resident care. You will perform a range of duties, including maintaining the Nursing Department, setting long-term goals, and overseeing record-keeping processes.
Essential Duties
Identifies patient/resident care needs.
Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with patients/residents, family members, visitors, etc., in providing direct nursing care.
Strictly adheres to safety and infection control rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Follows universal precaution procedures at all times.
Utilizes equipment in patient/resident care procedures properly and safely with minimal risk to self and others and in compliance with operating instructions.
Identifies potential safety hazards and promptly reports hazards to the appropriate department in a timely fashion either verbally or in writing.
Adheres to established policy and procedures regarding patient/resident neglect.
Follows established emergency procedures to include fire, disaster, and evacuation plans and procedures.
Actively participates in performance improvement activities and special projects, as required or as assigned. May serve as a participant on various internal committees.
Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license required - State of MD
Must be able to supervise and instruct others
In-depth knowledge of legal policies and regulations in the healthcare industry
