Full Job Description: Director of Nursing (DON)
Hycare, Inc. is looking for a experienced Director of Nursing who will be responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Ideal candidate must have skilled nursing experience as an RN nursing supervisor or interim DON.
Requirements:
- Current license to practice as an RN in California
- Current and valid CPR certification
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that the department services and activities can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the patients.
- Must be competent in organizing, planning, and directing nursing care.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing/medical standards of practice, industry-related State and Federal regulations
- Previous experience as DON, ADON, RN Supervisor preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year as a nurse for a skilled nursing facility
- Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language
- Proficiency with PCC a plus
Job Duties
- Plans, organizes, and directs overall clinical operations to provide comprehensive care for residents in accordance with current federal, state, and local guidelines
- Develops and implements registered nurse / RN service objectives, policies, and procedures to maintain quality care and compliance
- Ensure adequate nurse staffing levels across all shifts
- Oversee and evaluate nurse personnel
- Ensure compliance in all areas, including in documentation and resident care plans
Working Conditions:
- May encounter frequent interruptions
- May be involved with residents, family and government agencies
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day
- Working throughout the nursing areas
- Ability to read fine print on tablet, progress notes and/or medical labels
