Job Summary
The Director of Nursing is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position requires a strong background in nursing administration, acute care, and nurse management. The Director will be instrumental in developing care plans, maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations, and ensuring accurate documentation and medical records management. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments and have a solid understanding of anatomy to effectively guide nursing practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the nursing department to ensure optimal patient care and safety.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies and procedures in alignment with best practices.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of individualized care plans for patients.
- Conduct regular reviews of documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and information security.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and streamline operations.
- Provide guidance and support to nursing staff through training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- Monitor quality assurance metrics and implement improvement initiatives as necessary.
- Stay current with advancements in nursing practices, regulations, and technologies.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of MDS assessments, care plans, HIPAA regulations, and medical records management.
- Excellent documentation review skills with attention to detail.
- In-depth understanding of anatomy and its application in patient care.
- Exceptional leadership abilities with strong communication skills to effectively manage staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience in acute care settings is preferred.
