The APRN will perform the usual and customary clinical services of an advanced practice registered nurse to include, in collaboration with supervision physicians, the diagnosis, examination, consultation, and treatment of in-patients and out-patients in a clinic and hospital setting to all persons who present for same.
The APRN functioning within the cardiology ambulatory setting works in collaboration with, and is an integral member of, a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP functions in the clinic managing the cardiovascular needs of the identified population and may also work closely with the outpatient cardiology testing groups like ECHO and stress testing. The APP functions in the inpatient setting managing the care of acute and chronically ill patients related to cardiovascular diagnoses. The APP has a strong foundation in evidenced based practice and education and has a responsibility for ensuring an environment of safe quality care. The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
