Excellent opportunity for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join VOA's orthopedics team. VOA is seeking an individual to join a busy orthopedic practice in Valdosta, GA.. Primary responsibility is to work with the surgeons clinically and administratively.
JOB DUTIES:
1) Assist physician in outpatient clinic. Job responsibilities will include taking history and physical exams on new patients and follow-up patients. Candidate will need to have excellent communication skills, learn and use the electronic medical record system, and reliably examine patients. Candidate will also need to be able to present, interpret, and formulate a plan based on the information provided from the patient in coordination with the supervising surgeon. This will require comprehension and problem-solving skills.
2) Assist physician with peri-operative (pre- and post-operative) patient care under the supervision of the physician including inpatient hospital rounds and taking daily progress notes. Candidate should demonstrate efficiency, reliability, and honesty. Team-working skills are essential for interacting with all the multidisciplinary services. Minor procedures may be performed under guidance of supervising physician.
3) Communicate with the patient results and instructions to assist with continuity of care in coordination with the supervising physician. This will include the ability to order diagnostic labs and imaging studies, interpret reports and studies, and provide patient education. Candidate will need great interpersonal communication skills and feel comfortable with the specialty of Orthopedics.
4) Assisting in the operating room. Manual dexterity and operating skills should be above average. Surgical experience is preferred.
MINIMAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: (necessary to adequately perform the Job Functions)
* Current licensure in the State of Georiga is required.
* Certification and licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practioner.
* Two years of experience in advanced clinical role preferred
* Previous OR surgical experience preferred
* Exhibits good organization, communication, and planning skills
* Demonstrates good leadership, decision-making and judgment skills
* Communicates, advises, writes, and consults in a professional manner
* Can adequately perform the Essential Functions of this Job; as well as being capable of meeting its Functional and Environmental Requirements.
