Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Mentor

This opportunity is for LPNs who have held a position at Luthercare for at least 90 days before applying for the mentor role.
We’re currently seeking dedicated LPN Mentors for our Healthcare Center at Luther Acres, a Luthercare community in Lititz, PA. We currently have available a 72 hour biweekly position (7P-7A) Monday-Friday, weekends as needed.

WHAT YOU DO:
As an LPN Mentor at the Luther Acres Healthcare Center, you’re an integral part of providing compassionate care to the residents in our skilled nursing center. In this role, you will provide guidance, support, and mentorship to new team members embarking on their journeys with Luthercare. Your expertise and leadership will play a vital role in fostering a culture of excellence, a sense of community, and professional growth within our nursing team.
You’ll do this in several ways, including:
- Assist new employees in acquiring the experiences and skills needed to be successful in their new positions.
- Support new employees through the orientation process and beyond, being available to respond to orientees’ needs, and presenting a professional attitude, performance, and supportive manner.
- Introduce new employees to coworkers and make them feel welcome.
- Supervise an assigned skilled nursing area and assign work as appropriate. Provide instruction and direction in methods and techniques of nursing and resident care. Ensure that the care, comfort, and well-being of the resident is attained in accordance with established standards and procedures. Perform nursing duties following licensure scope of practice.
- Perform resident documentation as required following Luthercare’s Medical Record Documentation standard.
- Administer physician-ordered pharmacological agents, therapeutic treatments, peripheral IV therapy, and hypodermic injections. Observe, objectively interpret, record, and report resident’s response.
- Ensure that nursing care plans, charts, and treatment schedules are followed by nursing staff. Assist with admission and discharges of residents.
- Provide information/updates to nursing staff, supervisors, administration, physicians, and other disciplines as appropriate to coordinate continuity of care.
- Order and receive medications, treatment supplies, and resident care supplies.
- Assist with hands-on resident care, as necessary.
- Complete all required documentation related to the RAI process following the MDS/QR/Care plan schedules along with review of monthly physician orders.
- Maintain a high degree of safety awareness, fall prevention, restraint reduction, and infection control practices.
- Complete job duties according to established practice standards.
- Follow Luthercare policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate safe operation of equipment.
- Maintain mature and effective working relationships with coworkers and supervisors / manager.
Our LPNs are assisted by Certified Nursing Assistants and Hospitality Aides in providing care to our residents.

Luther Acres – located in the charming, historic town of Lititz – is a Continuing Care Retirement Community with a long history of providing excellent care and services. It is part of Luthercare, which is a not-for-profit, faith-based, and mission-driven organization. Luthercare provides a network of services through its full continuum of care with three communities in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. Luther Acres is its largest community, with nearly 600 residents living across its independent living cottages and apartments, personal care apartments, and skilled nursing healthcare center.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Current PA Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Current CPR Certification
- Ability to remain positive and calm in challenging moments.
- Ability to treat others with care, respect, and patience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have held an LPN position at Luthercare for a minimum of 90 days prior to applying for the Mentor role.
- Previous mentorship, leadership, or similar experience in previous role.
