BASIC FUNCTIONS/ POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and working closely with the Operations department the Director of Nursing is responsible for nursing services at all clinics. Major responsibility training and supervising all Nursing supervisors. Oversight of all clinical support activities provided by the medical assistants under supervision of the Nursing Supervisors. Directing, supervising, coordinating and evaluating all activities of patient care.
The Director of Nursing shall possess demonstrated knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide and assure quality nursing and standards of care for the patient population as per Title 22, Chapter 7. Primary Care Clinics, Article 3.

A Director of Nursing ensures that healthcare facilities are safe and meet the needs of patients and their families. They make sure there is adequate staff for the facility and that the staff is well trained to meet the safety and health of patients. They oversee budgeting, staffing, training and ongoing education. Directors of Nursing supervise their staff for performance, giving feedback on an ongoing basis. They enforce local, state and federal laws in a healthcare facility.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Oversees Nursing Supervisors and nursing service across all clinics...
2. Ability to navigate and use an electronic health record.
3. Compliance with confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations
4. Actively works with the CMO in monitoring quality of care provided at Innercare.
5. Works with CQI manager to identify trends and design interventions constantly seeking opportunities for improvement.
6. Works with the Nursing Supervisors for compiling data for reports, work load assessment, quality assurance, and other operational aspects that effect community services and Medical services.
7. Identifies opportunities for improvement and implementation of appropriate changes.
8. Assists Nursing Supervisors in the preparation of work plans and implementation of training programs for Nursing and Medical assistant staff.
9. Acts as a liaison between Nursing service and Clinicians, Clinic Operations, and Administration.
10. Provides and/or coordinates the orientation and continuous education including Patient Centered Medical Home process for the Nursing and Medical Assistant staff.
11. Takes the initiative to be innovative and creative to improve patient care and outcomes through staff development and the meeting of the identified needs. Demonstrates proactive rather than re-active approach.
12. Evaluates and ensures the Nursing and Medical Assistant staff delivers patient-centered care effectively.
13. In conjunction with Administration, ensures credentialing and/or certification files of medical staff are updated:
- Reviews personnel records
- Keeps accurate personnel records of education of staff
14. Meets professional requirements in a timely manner and is attentive to detail such as, Nursing schedule, Personnel evaluations, and Clinic based CQI and QA Process
15. Manages equipment effectively:
- Accounts for equipment function
- Monitors time cards and time edits in a timely and prompt manner

27. Maintains high level of personal education standards utilizing current reference materials in the form of journals, text, reports, newsletters, manufacture's information, policies, procedures, and standards, etc.
28. Uses the English language proficiently by writing ability, speaking ability and creativity.
29. Understands and Follows all safety procedures and reports unsafe conditions.
30. Understands appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate Degree in Registered Nursing and/or Baccalaureate in nursing desirable.
2. Possession of current Registered Nurse License form the State of California
3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
4. Current certification in some area of the nursing profession is desirable.
5. Graduate of an accredited college and/or university.
6. A minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in acute care nursing.
7. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
