Program Overview

Lincoln Hall’s Family Reunification Program (FRP) is on a 450-acre campus in Westchester County, NY, about 45 minutes north of New York City. The FRP provides temporary shelter services to unaccompanied children until they can be safely reunified with sponsors in the United States. While in our care, the children receive a host of services, including clinical, case management, medical, nutritional, recreational, religious, and educational services, all aimed at supporting the child’s physical, mental, behavioral, and emotional well-being.

Position Overview:

The Director of Nursing is responsible, together with the Medical Director, for providing the agency’s clients with the highest quality of medical care and to ensure that practice and policy are consistent with this goal.

To ensure that the delivery of medical services and nursing practices meet the high internal standards of the agency and of oversight agencies, the Director of Nursing oversees the daily operations of the Health Center and the supervision of nursing personnel.

Since the Director of Nursing will also function as a Nurse Practitioner, it is their responsibility to provide timely and comprehensive health evaluations and necessary follow-up care and referrals for the agency’s clients.

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

Is responsible for the maintenance of compliance with rules, regulations and guidelines related to best practices, as well as legal requirements for health care delivery
Develops and maintains systems for monitoring the activities of medical staff for quality, timeliness, and appropriateness
Ensures the efficiency of our health care delivery system
Ensures the quality and integrity of medical documentation. This shall include compliance with confidentiality guidelines, as well as HIPPAA standards
Defines the roles and expectations of medical staff and documents this as job descriptions. This shall be reflected in medical personnel evaluations.
Remains informed of current innovations, research, and practice in Nursing; uses this information to improve practice.
Supports Medical staff in the implementation of a team model for care delivery ensuring their participation in and responsiveness to general clinical processes.
Participates in program planning, staff training, program evaluation, research, etc., as needed
Monitors departmental expenses and assists in the preparation and implementation of the budget in cooperation with the Medical Director, Program Director, and Director of Finance
Recruits and retains Health Center personnel
Plans and coordinates in- service education for staff.
Develops and implements health education programs in conjunction with the medical director for clinic and other agency staff
Conducts/coordinates in-service training programs for both clinical and non-clinical staff members.
May take part in training interns, students on field placement, etc., when approved by the Medical Director.

The Nurse Practitioner, the same employee who serves as the Director of Nursing, bears responsibility for the following:

Ensures the comprehensive evaluation of children admitted to Lincoln Hall.
Provides treatment for medical conditions.
Responsible for prescribing medication in accordance with the policies / procedures of the Health Center; retains responsibility for continuous follow-up of each case and the required testing.
Ascertains whether emergency or specialized treatment is required and coordinates such treatment with the community hospital or agency.
Assists the clinical team in developing a treatment plan for the child, including psychiatry, psychology, and social issues
Interprets the assessment and treatment plan as indicated to the clinical treatment team
Consults with and takes direction from the Medical Director and meets regularly with them.
Collaborates with psychiatrists on cases they have in common.

Reporting Relationships:

The Director of Nursing/Nurse Practitioner reports to the Medical Director.

All Nursing staff including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, supervisors, and medical assistants report to this position. The Director is also the supervisor of health care coordinators, the administrative and clerical staff working in the Medical Department.

Position Qualifications:

The position requires the following:

Master’s level education in a health-related profession; licensure as a nurse practitioner; 5 years of experience.
Excellent communicator with proficient writing skills.
Ability to organize substantial amounts of data, interpret data for agency staff and write cogently regarding the data (e.g., statistical reports, Quality Improvement projects, policies, and procedures)
Ability to communicate with others to further the goals of the Department and the Agency
Ability to work collaboratively with others including peers, staff, residents, families, vendors, support agencies and others.
Ability to manage crises with minimal disruption to operations and for staff
Excellent critical and analytical skills
Excellent computer skills
Ability to understand financial reports and understand and develop appropriate budgets
Ability to evaluate/interpret information and make independent judgments/decisions.

Salary: $150,000.00 - $165,000.00 Annual
