About
I began my career as a registered nurse at UCLA Health, where I specialized in cardiothoracic surgical nursing. I also served as a preceptor and mentor to students and newly hired nursing staff, as well as a member of the unit’s practice council. Through this work, I advocated for patients as well as the nursing profession, contributing to improved patient outcomes and staff wellness. Witnessing systemic inequalities in the hospital setting and volunteering as a nurse in Central and South America inspired me to pursue further education and a career in the global public health field.
I recently received my Master of Science in Advanced Nursing with distinction from the University of Edinburgh, where I gained a deep understanding of nursing leadership in the global health landscape. My dissertation work focused on exploring early career nurses’ attitudes toward climate change, its relationship to their nursing practice, and inclusion in their continuing education. Additionally, I am passionate about planetary health, nursing workforce development, and health professionals’ vital role in promoting sustainability and health equity.
