Job descriptionProvides new employee onboarding, orientation, and the ongoing training necessary to ensure staff have all the information, skills, education and knowledge necessary to safely perform assigned duties. The clinical educator must lead by example in a kind, positive, encouraging and professional manner. The Clinical Education Specialist is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of education programs/services and professional development of nurses in their assigned nursing specialty. Works closely with nursing directors and/or department managers on the educational needs assessment and orientation programs for staff, in the assigned specialty. Ensures that competencies and skills are current and relevant for the nursing staff. Coordinates educational programs presented through the Education Department and other resources. Functions as a resource for educational issues throughout the company. Prepares and maintains documents for all education plans and implements and maintains all administrative processes.Responsibilities:Plans, organizes, develops and directs all educational programs and on-the-job training in accordance with all laws, regulations and company policiesWorks collaboratively (with other Department Leaders) and independently on policy development, updates, and training as neededContinually evaluates and improves programs and training material, keeping facilities compliant and updated on legal, regulatory and best practices as they changeProvide comprehensive education and training to nursing staff across multiple different facilities throughout CaliforniaImplement evidence-based practices to ensure highest standards of nursing and patient safetyDevelop educational programs for based on the needs of the facilities, changes in policy and proceduresResponsible for creating an environment in the classroom, and clinical settings that facilitates student learning and the achievement of desired cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes.Responsible for helping students develop and integrate the values and behaviors expected of those that fulfill that role.Utilizes a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate student learning in classroom, or clinical settings, as well as in all domains of learning.Responsible for formulating program outcomes and designing curricula that reflect contemporary health care trends and prepare individuals to function effectively in the health care environment.Functions as a change agent and leader to create a preferred future for healthcare education and clinical practice.Recognizes that the clinical educator role is multidimensional and that ongoing commitment to develop, maintain competence in the role is essential.Acknowledges that scholarship is an integral component of the educator role, and that teaching itself is a scholarly activity.Adult Learning

- Uses computer based data system and other on-line resources to manage information needed to develop curriculum or to provide standard or on demand reportsPerforms other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree Nursing Graduate of a state approved school of Registered Nursing.Minimum 1 year experience developing and delivering training, and supervising/leading staff members recommendedMinimum 2 years’ experience providing direct care to multiple residents/patientsDemonstrated ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Power Point, PDF as well as Internet access and utilization.Ability to participate in and utilize research for improvement of patient-care practices.Proven understanding of CA long-term care regulations, practices, procedures, terminology, staffing requirements and laws that govern the industryAbility to remain kind, professional and calm in all communication and work situations.Excellent teaching/training abilitiesStrong leadership, communication and interpersonal skillsPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree Nursing Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field, or in progress, strongly preferred * Master’s Degree in Nursing may be in lieu-of Bachelor’s Degree in NursingRequired Licenses/Certifications:Registered Nurse
