Remote Telephone Triage Nurse - Registered Nurse

General Summary for Remote Telephone Triage Nurse:
The remote telephone triage nurse will utilize the nursing process to provide triage and care advice to family medicine and pediatric patients by conducting focused assessments in accordance to policy while using approved support tools and guidelines from Schmitt and Thompson. The nurse will educate the caller on the seriousness of the symptoms and direct the caller with the correct disposition to be delivered at the patient’s home or in a more appropriate clinical setting.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Remote Telephone Triage Nurse:
-Function independently utilizing the nursing process
-Function in accordance with the authority and scope of Practice of the State in which the practice resides
-Ability to prioritize and perform effectively under stress
-Ability to identify urgent patients based on patient complaint and take those calls promptly
-Use approved Schmitt and Thompson protocols/guidelines for all calls
-Use sound professional judgment and clinical decision-making skills
-Respond to calls in a professional and timely manner
-Assess the caller’s needs, determine the seriousness and extent of patient’s condition, and direct care in accordance to the approved Schmitt and Thompson guidelines
-Ensure that care advice is given and documented for ALL patients, including call back advice
-Document all applicable patient information from the encounter and ensure information is placed in EMR
Qualifications, Licensure, & Working Conditions for Remote Telephone Triage Nurse:
-Registered Nurse with a current, unrestricted compact license.
-It is the nurse’s responsibility to notify the company immediately if there is a change in licensure status. If a license should expire, the nurse will no longer be eligible to function in the capacity of a triage nurse until current licensure is obtained and verified. Failure to maintain a current license may result in termination.
-At least 5 years of nursing experience across the lifespan
-Home office environment in a private area to comply with HIPAA regulations as this is a remote job
-Computer with the ability to have HIPAA compliant, secure connection database software program
-High speed internet, no dial up
-Proof of current professional liability insurance
Job Type: Part-Time 1099 Independent Contractor
Salary: $32 - 33 per hour
Pay: $32.00 - $33.50 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 36 per week
